MIAMI MOTEL STYLED LOOK BOOK S/S 2013

Still images taken from the Documentary Film 'Riding Giants' (2004 Stacy Peralta). This film highlighted the detailed history and origins of the surf culture, on the road and off.

Behind the scenes initial light testing, isn't she pretty!

As part of the development process for 'Miami Motel', I created several pages for a retro themed travel brochure using the photographs of my styled model. This evoked nostalgic visions of a Miami summer, playing on vintage aesthetics, pastel shades and the all iconic American diner. Additionally, referring back to the concept inspiration from 'Riding Giants, 2004' this brochure is intended to paint the lives of surf cultures who would make their annual East Coast trip each year.

My final travel brochure pages before being scanned into the computer. I created each page in a collage effect using the traditional method of cut and paste for a more authentic finish. I am always trying to achieve a perfect finish in what ever work i produce... and boy did this take a long time! All worth it of course.

This is my final outcome, pages for 'Miami Motel' styled Look book (Spring/ Summer 2013). I have incorporated together my own photography, fashion illustrations and digital manipulation to produce this work. This has been one of my favourite briefs as I absolutely love styling and drawing, so combining them both together was the obvious, and right choice.

REPULSIVE & SEDUCTIVE

This is one of the first projects I produced in my foundation year at Farnham UCA. At first, the name of the brief 'Repulsive & Seductive' had me quite baffled, none the less, intrigued by the idea of creating a piece of work that combined two themes of binary oppositions into one. The inspiration for this styled photo shoot draws influence from the ancient mythology of mermaids, sea serpents, witchcraft, wizardry and fairy-tale romanticism. I have to say a big thank you to my model, (and friend thank goodness) Georgina McKenzie, for allowing this crustacean and mackerel to elegantly sit upon her head for over two hours while we shot. It's safe to say that the rest of the studio team were not as polite about the awful fishy smell.

All work and photographs shown have been produced and taken by myself, L. Sole.
