MY MUSE FOR THE COLLECTION: ANTEVORTA

This week I am focusing my attention on getting the design process initiated, and starting my garment and product range plan. I will also be organising a test photo-shoot for my brand book this week. Whilst gathering inspiration for the collection from my own imagery taken in Italy, my attention was drawn to the ethereal ideologies of Roman Goddesses that link closely to religious buildings of past eras. A key reference within my design process is the Roman Goddess “Antevorta”, her name meaning Goddess of the future. This characteristic ties in with my intended trend concept and conveys an intelligent, fashion forward theme. I was drawn in by the interesting historical juxtaposition that this Goddess symbolizes. As trend forecasting processes rely heavily on looking at past influences to guide future predictions, Antevorta is a perfect example of how an ancient religious figure can provide context whilst holding a future driven identity that inspires contemporary fashion. As LSOLE endeavours to highlight the natural beauty and power of a woman and her body, I want the SS15 range to illustrate the future driven nature that Antevorta represents. This ancient Roman Goddess embodies a feminine, powerful and spiritual aesthetic which I aim to capture within the collection and brand ethos.
